Blended approach in the classroom

The innovation that I’ve been trying with my grades 10, 11 and 12 students is the online lab model.

Have you ever taught a class where computers were required? How about internet access? Most teachers use these things on a regular basis. This indicates the popularity of blended learning.

Blended learning occurs when traditional teaching methods are enriched with the use of technology. There are many different models of blended learning. They all use technology but in different ways and to different degrees.

Now that we know what blended learning is, let’s take some time to look at one specific type of blended learning: the online lab model.

The Online Lab Model Of Blended Learning

Imagine a school where students complete most learning in a computer lab housed in a traditional school. The teaching is done remotely online, but the facility itself is supervised by non-instructional staff who monitors behavior and attendance. This is an example of the online lab model of blended learning. This model is very useful in rural areas and when schools have limited resources.

The online lab model of blended learning delivers most, if not all, content remotely. This is different from strictly online learning in that students gather in a traditional setting to access the computers. However, no face-to-face teachers are required.

The online lab model allows for differentiation in education because each student in the classroom can be learning different things at different levels. Furthermore, course options are not limited to available teaching staff. Therefore, students have access to nearly unlimited options in learning and staff are limited to those needed to supervise the facility.

Now that we understand what the online lab model looks like, let’s explore one program that is successfully using this model.

In the online model there can be less teachers and more students, students from all around the world can take part in the online class. Teachers can also be more specialized.

Students in this model travel to the school, however education takes place entirely online through the computer lab of the institution. Teaching takes place remotely online, however trained non-instructional professionals help students on site and supervise the facility. Technology isn’t restricted to computers in this case, an online lab model gives opportunity to harness the benefits of other advanced technologies, such as 3D printers, VR headsets, and more.

Where it works best: This model can be the right fit for schools located rural areas and/or for those institutions which have limited resources. The lab model eases the facility restrictions or the lack of certified teachers in the area. Implementing this model can be very beneficial for secondary education students who need more flexibility due to their busy schedule. Those students will find this method beneficial too who need to move at a slower or faster rate than a traditional school setting would require them.

2nd Birthday Baby Boy

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while. Today I’m going to give you a simple idea for your baby boy’s second birthday. It is a construction theme.

So I basically live in a town where there are a lot of sand trucks and construction machines and that gave birth to the construction birthday photoshoot.

#Ayaanssecondbirthday #Watooka

The backdrop is an old train. The two ft high 2 is made of cardboard, cups to fill it out, more cardboard and paper. The happy birthday banner and posters were ordered on Amazon and the fence that the posters are on is made of wood and painted in the construction colour.

And ofcourse some construction trucks and matching tees were made. And there you have it folks, a construction themed birthday. Have fun customising yours.

Not my Islam

I live in a town where people convert to Islam because Muslim people give you free things

I live in a town where men convert to Islam because they want more than one wife,

I live in a town where people believe that women in Islam are submissive and oppress,

I live in a town where one day supposedly reverts wear full hijab one day and is totally naked another day,

I live in a town where two people nikkah temporarily just to have fun and then break that nikkah within months,

But I am here to tell you that that is not my Islam!

Giving charity is one of Islam’s five pillars, however please do not convert just to get free things,

Allah (swt) is all seeing and all knowing! That is not my Islam! Please convert because you believe in La illaha illAllah!

Converting because you want more than one wife? AstagfurAllah! That is not my Islam! The holy prophet Muhammad (saw) had one wife for 25 years, his beloved Khadija (r.a) until she died.

Women in Islam are submissive and oppressed? That is not my Islam! Heaven lies at the feet of thy mother and women in Islam has many rights since the 14th century that were only given to western women in the late 19th to early 20th century. The right to education(most learned is Aisha (r.a), a right to a job (Khadija (r.a) etc

Oh my beautiful reverted sisters learn Islam first, you don’t have to immediately wear full time hijab as soon as you convert. No one should force you to wear it. That is not my Islam! Practice slowly, learn to read Quran and pray salah. In Sha Allah your hearts will be opened to wearing hijab eventually.

Nikkah mutha? AstagfurAllah! Divorce is one of the most disliked deed by Allah (swt). It is allowed but disliked. Nikkah for pleasures alone? That is not my Istlam!

Homemade floral

So guys today I’m writing about how you can make your personalized floral without spending much money and still make your home look fancy.

All it takes is getting the right bunch of silk flowers, pots or vases of your choice and any other ornaments and ofcourse sponge or Styrofoam and glue.

Chip out each flower from the bunch of flowers. Arrange in the sponge or Styrofoam. Glue it down and place in pot. Ta da there you have it your own floral.

Graduation stage decor

All you need are some (lots)balloons in different colors, the number balloons to identify the year, some shinny material that sells at Muneshwars.

Eid ul Fitr

Eid ul Fitr is the celebration after the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims. It is therefore our ‘Christmas ‘ so to speak. It is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal and it is forbidden to fast on the day of Eid. The day commences with the praying of the special Eid salah, listening to the kutbah and the rest of the day is spend with family and friends.

Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The month of steadfastness, prayers, fasting, doing extra charity and even being kinda kind. The month that prepares us for the other 11 months of the year.

On the day of Eid love ones come together to celebrate. On this day we should make it as gun as possible for everyone especially the little ones. Eidi or Eid money is given to the kids. Toys, games, lots of good and drinks is all part of this special day. All possible halal fun and games should be incorporated into this day. And ofcourse remembering Allah (swt).

I hope you all had a wonderful Eid 2019.

Aqiqah (aqeeqa/aqeeqah) decor

Simple backdrop includes curtains in the color scheme, it’s a boy banner. The post and the ceiling are covered with crepe papers and balloons. The head table for the Imam and other scholar is decorated with table cloth and floral arrangement. The selfie frame was made with cardboard, gift paper, foam letters, foam. The Aqiqah (Arabic: عقيقة‎), aqeeqa, or aqeeqah is the Islamic tradition of the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child’s birth.
Aqiqah is a sunnat al mu’akkadah(confirmed sunnah).
If the guardian of the child is capable of slaughtering a sheep for the child, they should do it.

The following is a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) where he advised Aqiqah a goat/sheep.

Narrated Umm Kurz: The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Two sheep which resemble each other are to be sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl. (Sunan Abu Dawood Book 15, No. 2830

So for your baby’s aqiqah invite your family and friends, shave baby’s head, cook the meat that was slaughtered, decorate your place and invite some scholars to come recite Quran.
